I am building an e200 for someone off craigslist that goes 15mph, 12+ miles, and enough torque to go up hills for $800. My plan is to have someone build me a 36v 15-20ah pack out of 18650 cells and to use a currie 36v 600-1000w motor and a 35a controller (max battery output).

would I be better off running a 24v 750w motor on 36v? I am worried I will only get 12-13mph with the other combination.

this build seems to call for a hub motor, especially with that low top speed.

but $800 is way way too much for this. if this build can't beat the scooter below then you're not doing the guy any favor

comes with a 48V 1000w hub motor plus LiPO4 pack so i dont see the e200 project beating this in value or performance

The e200 is much smaller than that scooter, and I am trying to make a little money so I'm not pay all 800 on the parts. I would like to use a hub motor, but then I would need to weld disc brake brackets on. Also those scooters wildly overrate the range. It says it can go 25 miles but you would be luck if you got 12 miles (hills). It has a 48v 9ah battery, I am putting a 36v 15ah battery in the e200.

when i think of hills i think of efficiency. brushless hub would have higher efficiency and lower current requirements than a currie.

i have a similar brushless hub motor and also an E300... there is no comparison. the brushless hub scooter might be larger but is ligher overall due to the lighter frame and motor.

I have contacted them an asked if they would like to spend a little extra on the golden motor bldc-108 motor. It is high efficiency and when geared for 20mph will be crazy powerful.
